SUMMARY: Tyson Foods seeks to hire a Chief Counsel with demonstrated experience implementing operational excellence strategies, superior leadership skills, and an expertise in employment and labor law and litigation. This position oversees enterprise employment litigation, and manages a team of attorneys who provide employment, benefits, traditional labor, and OSHA advice and counsel to Tysons business units. This position also supervises outside counsel on cases and demonstrates an ability to effectively and timely communicate with and respond to clients along with an ability to provide competent risk assessment advice. This position relies on extensive experience and sound judgment to independently plan and accomplish goals and possesses an in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of legal concepts practices and procedures. This position must possess the experience or ability to participate in the development of corporate strategy and to manage complex legal matters and or class action litigation. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Supervisory experience and the ability to drive implementation of strategic plans, while positively engaging team members is required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Law degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.

Experience: 10 plus years of legal experience, including previous experience in labor and employment law is required. Supervisory experience is required.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.

Communication Skills: Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Special Skills: A leader and team player with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and respond to clients in a timely manner including the ability to provide competent risk assessment advice. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Supervisory: May supervise direct reports and will have administrative support staff. Provides functional supervision for other members of the work unit such as assigning work and training lower level positions and expected to provide functional advice or training to less experienced attorneys.

Travel: Travel is required but varies with workload.
