Job Description

This position is responsible for improving department goals and performance through statistics, analytics, modeling, and business intelligence tools. We are looking for an experienced data analyst who will work closely with cross-functional partners and propose innovative opportunities for new data visualizations for department leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Employ statistical techniques with big data initiatives and tools to drive major operational business decisions.
  • Answer complex questions through data science, analysis, and clearly communicate findings to multi-functional teams for direction.
  • Develop analytics, visualizations and other ad hoc reporting that provide significant insights to the details and efficiency of spend
  • Analyze the existing processes, tools and deliverables for effectiveness and ease of use, help drive scalable systems that integrate with other data systems and use data to deliver a level of detail that helps the business.
  • Seek opportunities to improve data collection, reporting and consumption based on business needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership and contribute meaningfully to strategic planning initiatives.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and technical resources across many levels of the organization.
  • Track record of identifying innovative opportunities, presenting plans and building support for improvement in processes.


Additional Job Description

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with a legal department is required.
  • Experience with General Motors preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience with business intelligence and dashboard tools.
  • Extensive technical experience with Oracle, SQL Server, JavaScript, CSS, PowerBI, Tableau, C, C++, VBA
  • Strong technical aptitude, including advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite, data visualization and project management software.
  • Ability to work in most aspects of business and technical data analysis in accordance with acceptable practices and standards.
  • Strong analytical, research and related communication skills including excellent skills in chart and graph development, report and presentation preparation, and speaking and facilitating group meetings.
  • Ability to think strategically, identify and analyze complex issues and problems, and recommend and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of new and upcoming technology applicable to the legal profession, as well as best practices and process and systems improvement methodologies.
  • Professional demeanor, exacting attention to detail, high quality work standards, and the ability to prioritize and perform effectively under pressure and within time constraints.
  • Proven ability to work well within a team-oriented environment and contribute to effective team relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with all levels of legal, management and support staff. Sound political acumen to navigate the organization effectively to achieve goals.
  • Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances.
  • Work occasionally requires more than normally scheduled work hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
