Nuix seeks an experienced Data Privacy Officer to join our team.  In this role, you will report to the General Counsel and work closely with Nuix’s Legal, Compliance, Information Technology, Risk, and Security functions.  You will develop and monitor policies, procedures and standards applicable to the business and support our n compliance with the applicable privacy laws around the world, including GDPR, Australian Privacy Principles, CCPA/CPRA, and other national and state data protection laws.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the implementation of standards, processes and practices required to meet data privacy requirements, including monitoring compliance against GDPR, the Privacy Act/APPs, US state laws and other data protection laws that affect Nuix now and into the future.
  • Contribute to the implementation of data risk management framework within Nuix for Corporate and SaaS platforms. This includes managing risks and obligations in relation to personally identifiable information and working with stakeholders in dealing with any risk incidents.
  • Address privacy related queries from the business.
  • Identify and evaluate the company’s data processing activities; and maintain the records of processing operations.
  • Promote a culture of data protection. Ensure that the company and its employees are informed about their data protection rights, obligations and responsibilities and raise awareness about them.
  • Manage internal data protection policies and make sure the company is adhering to them.
  • Provide advice regarding data protection impact assessments and monitor performance.
  • Give advice and recommendations to the company about the interpretation and application of data protection rules.
  • Handle and respond to complaints or requests by data controllers and data subjects.
  • Coordinate and conduct data privacy assessments and make recommendations on necessary changes to our policies and procedures.
  • Report to the GC and make recommendations to address non-compliance with applicable internal data protection standards or applicable laws.
  • Act as the point of contact with the data protection agencies / supervisory authorities and other organisations that process data on our behalf.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to review contracts and data use cases to ensure compliance with data privacy laws and protect the company brand.
  • Mapping workflow requirements for document management systems, including security changes that occur during the data workflow.
  • Provide advice, recommendations and remediations should a privacy breach occur.

Experience:

We are looking for an experienced privacy specialist with a track record in the data privacy field to shape and deliver the outcome of a privacy framework.  We are looking for a lateral thinker who can build and apply their knowledge in a cross-functional way, working with a large variety of different teams and stakeholders.

Your experience should include:

  • At least ten years experience in data protection and privacy compliance-type role.
  • Significant experience in EU, USA, Australian and other international privacy laws, including drafting of privacy policies, technology provisions and sourcing agreements.
  • Experience working with multi-national SaaS/technology company.
  • Demonstrated skills interfacing successfully with DPAs.
  • Demonstrated client relationship skills to continuously coordinate with client controllers and processors while maintaining independence.
  • Demonstrated communication skills to speak with a wide-ranging audience, from the board of directors to data subjects, from managers to IT staff and lawyers.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with ability to gain the required knowledge in dynamic environments.   
  • Experience in legal and technical training and awareness-raising.
  • Experience in dealing successfully with different business cultures and industries.
