JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide advanced legal advice and services to Arconic's Business Units and Resource Units on a cost-effective basis utilizing the highest professional standards of practice on a broad range of labor and employment matters while satisfying the legal needs of a global business.
- Work directly with Assistant General Counsel and other staff attorneys, paralegals, and support staff in providing legal advice and risk mitigation across a broad range of employment legal matters (employee relations, terminations, discipline, wage and hour compliance and disputes, investigations, leaves of absence, employment-related agreements/documents, harassment/discrimination issues, and disability/reasonable accommodations issues and others as they arise).
- Resolve issues with administrative agencies, i.e., EEOC, NLRB, and DOL.
- Provide legal advice, training, and service to business leaders and Human Resource professionals on preventative legal issues, employment policies, practices, and compliance-related matters.
- Provide employment law support for HR internal investigations.
- Partner with outside counsel, if necessary, when handling some employment matters.
Key Objectives
- Utilize knowledge of the law and experience to analyze facts and situations to effectively assess risk and make recommendations that are in the best interest of the Company.
- Provide employment law support for HR internal investigations.
- Monitor legislative developments to ensure continued compliance with national, state, and local employment labor laws and regulations.
- Represent company in employment matters in front of various federal, state and/or local agencies, as well as in response to attorney demand letters.
- Supervise and review responses to employment-related notices and agency requests.
- Continuously develop understanding of legal risks and advise business leaders and stakeholders accurately of legal and other risks associated with proposed activities.
- Stay current with all legal trends, regulations, and laws.
