As a staff or senior-level attorney, he/she will be the lead attorney servicing the expungement unit’s practice of responding on behalf of the Attorney General to thousands of applications to set aside convictions filed each year under MCL 780.621 et seq. The attorney will appear in court on behalf of the Attorney General in these cases as directed by a court or by a
supervisor. The attorney will respond to questions and concerns from courts, attorneys, and citizens about the expungement process. The attorney will conduct trainings/presentations on the expungement process in Michigan for outside agencies and private groups as directed by a supervisor or by the Executive Division. Finally, the attorney will assist the First Assistant
and the Executive Division with projects related to the Attorney’s General’s Expungement initiative as directed by a supervisor or by the Executive Division itself.
