Alight Solutions seeks a high-performing attorney looking for an opportunity to join a collaborative and energetic legal department to support a rapidly transforming and dynamic business. This position is for a regulatory attorney with a strong ERISA background that includes substantive experience gained either at a law firm or another in-house position.  The position presents a unique opportunity to focus on health-related aspects of the administrative services that Alight provides to its clients, including:

  • Annual Enrollment

  • COBRA

  • Spending Accounts (FSA, DC FSA, HRA, HSA, etc.)

  • ACA Employer Shared Responsibility Reporting

  • ERISA Claims and Appeals

  • Dependent Verification Services

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a business partner and trusted legal advisor to our client-facing business leaders and service delivery teams and help advance strategic business initiatives.

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations, laws, and industry trends and practices that may affect Alight and its clients.

  • Review new legislation and regulatory guidance with business colleagues and understand and translate the operational impact of those developments on Alight’s business.

  • Undertake other assignments as determined by legal department leadership.

  • Periodic travel may be required depending on assigned projects.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least seven years of substantive experience advising administrators or employers on legal and regulatory matters pertaining to group health and welfare plan administration.

  • Deep technical understanding of the laws and regulations impacting the health aspects of the employee benefits space, including ERISA, the ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.

  • Working knowledge of recent legislative and regulatory developments in the health and welfare space. Specifically, an ability to address the impact of transparency rules applicable to group health plans and the health plan provisions of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, including broker and consultant fee disclosure requirements.

  • Ability to provide good, proactive professional guidance and advice and sound business-focused solutions that combine excellent judgment, creativity, risk-taking, and technical expertise.

  • A history of enthusiastic participation in a team environment

  • Learning agility, including a demonstrated willingness to develop expertise in new subject matter areas

  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to deal with complex issues in a challenging environment

  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to senior management and various business colleagues and successfully impact decision-making. 

  • Share Alight’s purpose and values, including high ethical standards, teamwork, client service, work ethic and positive attitude.

  • Candidate must have Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school and be a member in good standing of the bar.

The estimated minimum salary for this role is $114,500.00/year (full-time). In addition to the base salary, this position may be bonus eligible.
