  • You will create template agreements, develop playbooks and legal processes that can scale globally.
  • Advise the business on day-to-day marketing issues that arise, including advertising and product performance claims and substantiation, IP issues, including conducting clearance search and analysis on all trademarks, logos, taglines, and slogans used by Ariat worldwide
  • Help support our global brand protection and efforts by coordinating IP-based takedowns, managing our third-party brand protection providers, and working with outside counsel.
  • You will assist with maintaining our patent, trademark, and copyright portfolio, advising on strategic areas to grow our portfolio, and implement new IP-related initiatives.
  • Assist and support product teams in connection with the launch of new products from ideation to creation.
  • Provide guidance and support our cross-functional colleagues in areas of immigration, HR, labor and employment, data privacy, compliance and other areas supported by the legal department, as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school, licensed to practice law and in good standing in one or more states
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as commercial counsel. You know how to efficiently manage risk and ensure that business and compliance needs are accurately reflected in agreements.
  • You will also have experience in one or some of these areas: marketing, advertising, intellectual property (trademark or other soft IP), privacy, or product counseling experience in an in-house legal department.
  • Experience with a global footwear and apparel brand, or consumer products is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders and teams on multiple projects at once.
  • Strong attention to detail—you sweat the small stuff and strive to get it right the first time, every time.
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements
  • Team player who manages well under pressure, while maintaining a good sense of humor.
