COMMERCIAL COUNSEL

Current's Legal team is dedicated to providing top notch commercial, regulatory, corporate and policy advice on all aspects of the business. We are on the front line providing expertise and value on all legal fronts to support and advance Current's mission. We are looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our growing Legal team. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues across multiple internal teams on a wide range of commercial matters and represent the company in dealings with external stakeholders. You will support our ambitious product roadmap and have an immediate impact on the growth of the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, agreements, terms of service, and product partnerships and provide support to senior lawyers
  • Provide assistance with all aspects of legal support for Current's marketing team who is on the leading edge of digital marketing and influencer engagement
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting products and services and work with compliance team on regulatory issues
  • Help manage large-scale projects and product launches
  • Take leading role in company-wide contract lifecycle management
  • Create templates and playbooks
  • Conduct legal research

ABOUT YOU:

  • JD degree
  • 4-7 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm, government or in-house (in-house experience preferred)
  • Admitted to practice law in the United States (New York admission preferred)
  • Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of legal agreements common in banking, financial services, cryptocurrency, digital payments, digital marketing, and fintech, such as strategic partnerships, program agreements, and online and offline advertising engagements
  • Strong knowledge of and interest in disruptive technology, financial services, or security; prior experience working in fintech, digital marketing, or digital payments a plus
  • Proven ability to proactively, efficiently, and accurately assess legal business risks in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative legal mind with an interest in innovation
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills and a track record of creating strong and trusted cross-functional relationships
  • Proactive personality and eagerness to learn about the business, the industry and new areas of the law
