Facebook seeks a highly motivated, collaborative, leader on the Security Legal team. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment This is a unique opportunity to have regional and global impact while working on cutting edge products and novel legal issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment across a range of complex regulatory, privacy, safety, security and user data issues. The role requires sharp analytical skills, good judgment, strong work ethic and communication proficiency, a keen interest in learning and working with new technologies and laws across jurisdictions and time zones, and the ability to work independently as well as with large multi-stakeholder teams.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory, criminal and policy legal risks and resolving disputes
  • Support legal and public policy teams’ engagement with regulators and legislators on encryption, cross-border data access, and security policy
  • Monitor the legal and regulatory landscape and advise the business on the impacts of and compliance strategies for responding to new regulation in the law enforcement, privacy and safety space
  • Collaborate with members of Public Policy, Legal, Community Operations, Product, Engineering and others on security matters
  • Lead strategic outreach with industry peers, NGOs and key government officials on law enforcement and national security issues
Minimum Qualification
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 12+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience
  • Experience managing and handling legal and regulatory issues
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience advising technology or telecommunications companies as in-house or outside counsel on regulatory, safety and security matters, investigations, policy and/or criminal process
  • Experience with the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Stored Communications Act, General Data Protection Regulation, and other analogous U.S. and international laws
  • Experience advising technology companies on encryption, cross-border data flows, and data localization
  • Experience with Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty requests, Letters Rogatory, or other forms of international cooperation
  • Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional efforts
