Quidel is searching for a Paralegal to work at our corporate office in the Mira Mesa area of San Diego. This junior-level position will interact with various departments including: Manufacturing, Production, Engineering, Research & Development, Procurement, Quality Assurance/Regulatory Affairs, and Human Resources, as well as the broader Quidel organization. This role supports the legal department with respect to all legal and paralegal matters. This role will require hybrid onsite / remote work, estimating a minimal of two days onsite per week.

Essential Functions
  • Assist legal department personnel in managing workflow and organization of transactions, arrangements, litigation activities and departmental functions (5 attorneys, 3 paralegals in the U.S. and some support of international subsidiaries)
  • Support appropriate internal approval processes, for internal and external tracking of actions, inputting of information into records management systems and supporting corporate policies and procedures
  • Preparation of minutes/resolutions, corporate filings, maintain corporate record books
  • Maintain standard document templates.
  • Draft, proof and revise legal documents and reports, including correspondence
  • Support in adoption and maintenance of new contract management system, and the generation of reports as required
  • Send and receive mail and correspondence pursuant to notice requirements
  • Support expense reports and management of invoice processing, including tracking, review and submission of legal firm invoices to accounts payable
  • Provide general administrative support to the Legal team, while interacting cross-functionally with other departments
  • Accomplish department goals; explore opportunities to add value to job; update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Support special projects and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Paralegal certificate from an A.B.A. paralegal program required
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a corporate paralegal in law firm or in-house legal department
Skills & Knowledge
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized with excellent follow through
  • Collaborative, with good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent grammar, spelling and format skills, including accurate preparation of documents
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure with high level officers and employees on urgent and sensitive matters
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other web-based applications
  • Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Notary public (preferred)
