Facebook is seeking a highly motivated counsel to work on Facebook’s Legal Privacy Team to advise Facebook, Instagram, AR/VR, and/or WhatsApp. The successful candidate will work closely with product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, as well as other legal department subgroups. This requires strong business acumen, deep understanding of global privacy laws and the ability to both work independently and with large multi-stakeholder teams. We are looking for someone with sharp analytical and communication skills, who is diligent, proactive, collaborative, and has demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment and strategic thinking. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment, as we build and scale our global community. We are looking for an attorney who is excited by taking on and leading complex privacy projects, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can seamlessly drive success working with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to accomplish bold things.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on drafting and oversee the development and management of Facebook's (and its affiliates') privacy policies and notices across the full range of Facebook’s different products and maintain Facebook’s ongoing transparency and privacy-by-design approach
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in areas of privacy and data protection laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on Facebook’s business
  • Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with stakeholders across Facebook's business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments
  • Develop regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with privacy policy updates, new product features and initiatives
  • Help to develop and conduct general and role-specific privacy trainings across Facebook
  • Manage internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet our obligations
Minimum Qualification
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
  • Experience using business judgment and with product counseling
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media, ad tech and Internet companies
  • Experience with policy development
  • Experience prioritizing work and providing advice under deadlines
  • Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Experience with understanding innovative privacy technology and enthusiastic about technology
