Job description

The Swatch Group (US), Inc. (Company) is looking for a Corporate Legal Counsel (in-house) with strong experience in commercial contract law, including consumer product distribution, intellectual property law, retail leasing and construction issues, as well as litigation, based in its offices in Miami, Florida.

This candidate must have a Juris Doctorate degree from a top tier US law school and a bar admission in Florida. Work experience in Europe or working experience with a European organization is preferred for this position.

Reports to: Country Manager, Corporate Legal Counsel at Swiss Headquarters

Shares responsibility with one other Corporate Legal Counsel of Company.

Profile

Purpose:

  • To provide legal advice / training to various brands / divisions of the Company;
  • To draft / review / negotiate Company's contracts ;
  • To ensure Company’s activities comply with local laws;
  • To represent the Company in defined legal proceedings;
  • To support Legal Department of The Swatch Group Ltd. with regard to US projects.

Professional requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from top tier law school with excellent academic credentials
  • Admitted to the bar in Florida (NY and NJ beneficial)
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience, 5 of which should be at a top tier law firm, 2 of which as in-house counsel
  • Experience to represent Company in litigation in Florida
  • Experience in providing commercial legal advice as an in-house counsel is essential
  • A strong working knowledge of commercial contract law, including drafting and reviewing distribution agreements and commercial representation agreements for technically complex products, as well as experience in consumer product online and offline distribution and franchise law.
  • Experience in intellectual property rights, including Lanham Act cases
  • Antitrust law experience
  • Experience in negotiating retail lease and construction/ build-out agreements
  • High level of planning and organizational skills, with a great ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent drafting, communication (written and verbal) and negotiating skills
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
