Overview:
AutoNation is #hiringnow for a Paralegal to assist in managing litigation and transactional matters, and to assist in the administration of the Business Ethics Program on behalf of AutoNation, Inc. and its operating subsidiaries (“AutoNation”) with limited supervision. This is a highly visible role based at our beautifil Corporate Office in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, FL.


Organizational Relationships:

The position will report directly to a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel in the Legal Department, as well as supporting two other Vice Presidents in the Legal Department. The position will interact with various corporate departments, operating subsidiaries, and outside law firms, as appropriate to perform the duties of the position.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide paralegal support in connection with the management of certain litigation and pre-suit matters, including employment litigation, charges of discrimination, agency wage claims, and pre-suit matters, with limited oversight. This includes reviewing and evaluating pleadings, legal orders, and other legal documents to ensure proper handling, drafting certain legal documents, inputting case information in the Company’s litigation matter management system (currently Legal Tracker), participating in fact finding, coordinating and/or responding to certain discovery requests, tracking case results and costs, corresponding with outside counsel, and providing other general case management assistance. Provide paralegal support on various transactional projects with limited oversight, including assisting in the management of certain operational and legal forms.
  • Assist with the administration of the Business Ethics Program with limited oversight, including assisting with the roll out of online training courses and related reports and communications.
  • Evaluate and ensure appropriate handling of a variety of other miscellaneous legal matters as they arise.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.

Qualifications Mandatory:
  • Minimum five years' experience performing paralegal duties, including litigation related duties.
  • Paralegal certificate
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications Preferred:
The ideal candidate will have more than five years of experience as a paralegal or performing paralegal duties with a focus on litigation, either with a large law firm or public company.
