The purpose of the team is to support Computershare to meet its strategic objectives by expertly managing legal risk and providing effective and efficient legal solutions.


A role you will love


The Associate General Counsel of Litigation is responsible for strategizing, managing, directing and providing comprehensive, analytical and responsive legal expertise to manage the Company’s Corporate Trust litigation. Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and all state and federal regulations.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:


  • Manage all disputes and litigation, including investigation and risk assessments associated with CCT corporate trust matters.
  • Manage outside counsel engagements and litigated matters, including engagements and all stages of the litigation process, mediations or arbitration proceedings, as required.
  • Manage billing arrangements and coordinate payments through various company pay, trust pay or indemnification processes.
  • Provide analysis, reporting and presentations to the General Counsel, Executive Committee, Various Agencies and Company’s clients related to litigation matters, trends and approach to resolution.
  • Develop and coordinate implementation of policies and procedures necessary to manage CCT’s.

What will you bring to the role?


  • The Associate General Counsel of Litigation requires a knowledge of disputes and litigation associated with corporate trust transactions, including securitization, corporate finance, municipal finance, insurance trust, and similar transactions. This includes a comprehensive knowledge of the various roles and parties participating in structured products and conventional debt services.

  • The Associate General Counsel role requires 8 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department as a defence counsel in the financial services industry, ideally corporate trust services and products.

  • The role requires attention to detail and some evaluative judgment based on best practice and previous experience, legal research and evalution, and consultation with business partners and outside counsel, and will be expected to respond to and resolve problems by identifying and communicating risk sand potential solutions.

  • The Associate General Counsel role will require developed communication skills to be able to provide clear verbal and/or written communications in response to business management and client queries. Queries received will range from basic to advanced in complexity. The role holder may also require tact and diplomacy when dealing with challenging clients, business partners, or sensitive issues. Stakeolders include general counsel, executive committee, various agencies and company’s clients.

Education and Experience


Required:


Law school graduate from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in at least one state jurisdiction.


Preferred:


8 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department as defense counsel in the financial services industry, ideally corporate trust services.


Salary for Colorado candidates: $148,745-$247,908 annually.


Travel Required

It is expected that this position may include travel up to 10% of the time. This is subject to change based on many factors, including business needs.
