Summary

The position of Associate General Counsel is located in the Division of Operations Management in the Office of the General Counsel. The Associate General Counsel reports directly to the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel. The incumbent of this position serves as head of one of the major functional areas in the General Counsel's organization and assist in coordination and integration of all operations in Headquarters with the field.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs the coordination of the case-processing and substantive operations in the regional offices with the various other Divisions and Branches in the Washington HQs offices of the General Counsel and Board.
  • Assists the General Counsel in the formulation, development and implementation of operational objectives, immediate and long range; to assist the field offices to best perform their responsibilities in enforcing the mission of the NLRA.
  • Plans and directs studies to assess human capital resources, both existent and potential, in relation to total General Counsel's workload and operational objectives; develops proposed policies and programs to achieve optimum development of human capital and economical and effective use of human capital through-out the General Counsel's organization.
  • Directs the development of systems for case flow and management directed toward attainment of time and quality objectives, integration of the case-processing activities of all field and Washington organizational units-end full consideration of all matters bearing on the treatment and disposition of cases, maximum utilization of staff resources, and implementation of General Counsel and Board policies.
  • Maintains an awareness and an understanding of required clearances and of decisions and communications emanating from other units of the General Counsel's organization and from the Board; ensures that operations of field offices are in conformance with the policies of the General Counsel and the decisional policies of the Board are properly and uniformly interpreted and effectively applied.
  • Investigates Congressional or other inquiries or complaints made concerning application of agency policy by field personnel; effects corrective action if appropriate, including measures to prevent recurrences; and corresponds or confers with questioners to explain misconceptions or corrective measures taken.
  • Plans, coordinates, and provides overall direction and guidance to nationwide field office training program and Special Emphasis events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $132,552.00 - $199,300.00 per year
