Purpose :

The Legal Operations Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing a number of key areas relating to the Bank as needed, including Vendor Management Office Support; Insurance Procurement and Management; Policy Management; Policy Library management; Review of incoming tax and litigation notices; Board and Committee Compliance; Ethics Officer Support; File Management; OMWI reporting and postings/publications; Strategic Planning; FHLBank System Related Tasks (e.g., OMWI/LCLD/DEI/BCC); Coordinate and monitor Government Relations activities and strategies; Organizing Legal Department’s responsibilities around business continuity and data/record management; With administrative support, coordinate Legal Department’s hard copy and electronic files and file management processes, including departmental Record Retention schedule, data classification chart, and similar charts; Serve as primary liaison to Records & Information Management Department and other related working groups; and coordinate with Corporate Secretary on board governance matters as necessary.

Position Requirements :

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Must be flexible in workflow demands as required duties can change with Bank needs.

  • Communicate and interact effectively with management, peers and supervisors in a professional manner.

  • Must possess exceptional organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and be detail-oriented.

  • Knowledge of legal concepts as well as basic technology, written and verbal ability at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, liberal arts with an emphasis in English, or a related discipline.

  • 5-7 years’ work force experience in a position requiring tact, poise, direct telephone/video contacts with all levels of management and external constituents.

  • Ability to work with highly confidential material.

  • Legal Department or law firm experience a plus. Banking or other equivalent business experience also a plus. Experience with electronic systems including Board/committee records portals (e.g., Board Vantage or Diligent), governance/risk/compliance systems (e.g., Archer), and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw) a plus.

  • Ability to uphold and model the bank’s guiding principles.
