  • IBM Watson Health has compiled one of the largest healthcare databases in the world, derived from numerous and diverse financial, operational, and medical record source systems. IBM Watson Health’s portfolio of assets brings together clinical, research and social data from a range of health sources, powered by advanced cognitive and analytic technologies.
  • IBM Watson Health’s Imaging group is a leading provider of innovative artificial intelligence, enterprise imaging, interoperability solutions that seek to advance healthcare. This includes offerings from IBM’s subsidiary, Merge Healthcare Incorporated, which currently offers a suite of Class II medical devices regulated by the FDA.

Lead Healthcare Brand Lawyer For IBM Watson Health Offerings

  • Provide support for the Watson Health offering portfolio and strategic partnerships and develop a thorough understanding of Watson Health’s business, strategy, policies and culture.
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice to the legal and business teams on a variety of matters. This will include counsel on contract interpretation, compliance, enforcement and administration, as well as customer and supplier disputes (pre-litigation).
  • Draft, review and negotiate customer, vendor, partner, licensing and other agreements customary to a fast-growing global commercial enterprise.
  • Collaborate with colleagues (domestically and internationally), including Watson Health management, to ensure that risks to the company are appropriately identified, assessed and escalated.
  • Identify training opportunities for internal business clients on legal issues.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • J.D. from a top tier, accredited law school
  • License to practice law in a US jurisdiction
  • Transactional attorney with a minimum of 5 years’ experience specializing in providing advice and counsel on a wide range of healthcare legal issues.
  • Must have general knowledge of overall healthcare law framework, including HIPAA and related data privacy issues, to support complex Watson Health commercial offerings to clients in the healthcare and pharmaceutical fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and transparent relationships with a wide range of internal clients, ensuring positive client experiences and goodwill that will form the foundation for productive and lasting partnerships.
  • Practical, business-driven problem solver to support the Watson Health global business strategy, with proven ability to provide balanced risk assessments and close complex transactions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; willing and able to influence and drive change

Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise

At least 3 years’ in-house experience preferred.
