Job Description:
At Regions, the Assistant General Counsel is responsible for firm wide infrastructure that may include one or all of the following areas of expertise: finance, operations, information technology, compliance, and risk. This position may be responsible for major legal specializations such as acquisitions and mergers, securities, anti-trust investigations, litigation, taxation etc.

Primary Responsibilities
Advises members within a specialized legal area or particular business activity and provides counsel in cases of litigation
Protects the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements, and litigation
Ensures compliance of laws and regulations
Advises management on recent changes in laws and regulations that affect the company
May direct activities of one or more General Attorneys

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

Doctor of Jurisprudence degree
Six (6) years of related experience
Fiduciary trust law experience

Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of corporate law and banking regulations
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Skilled to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
Demonstrated skill to resolve complex legal issues
Demonstrated skill to judge character
Ability to distinguish relevant facts
Ability to assimilate and analyze facts
Ability to apply legal theories

Additional Job Description

This role may perform work in the following areas: employment law supporting all areas/functions of human resources and management; litigation management; administrative charge response; alternative dispute resolution; employment related compliance; DE&I; workplace safety/OSHA; workers compensation; social media; immigration; Affirmative Action; compensation; and marketing material review.

Additional Preferences
Employment law experience, to include advice and counsel regarding federal, state and local employment laws on a national basis
Experience in defense of employment related issues for large corporate clients/ public companies
Experience in regulated industries (banking, healthcare, aviation, etc.)
