The Senior Legal Counsel position is an attorney position based in Atlanta reporting to the Head of Legal, Americas. The successful candidate will be licensed in Georgia or another US state (New York or California preferred) and will like a fast-paced environment with varied work and collegial teams. This position is part of the Americas legal team, which is comprised of 2 attorneys and a legal intern in Rio de Janeiro and the Head of Legal and this position in Atlanta.

WHAT TO EXPECT: With its cutting-edge technology and complex industry in air transit industry, SITA has opportunities to grow its employees and its attorneys by presenting new legal issues to review and consider. SITA bids on airport Requests for Proposals (“RFPs”) in the Americas region. Additionally, SITA provides IT and other technology and services to airlines, air navigation services providers, and governments across the globe. In this position, a typical day will be: reviewing RFPs and supporting the sales, bid, proposal and solution teams that prepare proposal responses; reviewing, negotiating and closing contracts; and providing overall advice and counsel on commercial issues in the US and Canada. As part of a global company and Legal department, both domestic and international travel are part of the responsibilities of this position.

  • Provide advice and counsel to sales, bid managers, proposal managers and customer solution teams
  • Successfully lead contract negotiations with customers to ensure SITA has protected its interests will supporting its customers and their needs
  • Support Purchasing group with supplier contracts and negotiations
  • Have the ability to provide advice while gaining the trust of internal clients to ensure that the Legal Department is viewed positively and as a supporter of business
  • Maintain excellent inter-personnel communications and relationships
  • Strong drafting with the ability to clearly communicate complex legal and factual matters
  • Advising internal teams on SITA policies and procedures related to commercial contracts
  • Supporting Corporate Compliance training and initiatives
  • Other matters as they arise



  • Have 7 – 10 years’ experience in complex contract negotiation experience, preferably in an in-house setting, with a clear understanding of limitations of liability, warranties and indemnification provisions
  • Proficient in intellectual property rights and matters
  • Working knowledge of Data Privacy and Data Security issues
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Provide well-summarized risk analysis and risk management advice

These skills are not required but would be helpful in this position:
  • Knowledgeable of airport environment, technology, and contracting processes
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and government procurement
  • Capable of supporting lease review and negotiations
  • Able to prepare and deliver training to internal departments
  • Comfortable advising on and negotiating LOI’s and Strategic Partnership arrangements
  • Dispute resolution management
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and government procurement
  • Multilingual especially in Spanish, Portuguese, or French
  • A good sense of humor
