JOB SUMMARY
This role will be responsible for supporting Charter’s immigration sponsorship program, by ensuring compliance with immigration regulations and internal protocols, including for H-1B sponsorship and labor certification requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
  • Investigate the factual support for transactions or litigation, including the preparation of exhibits, charts and diagrams
  • Perform legal research
  • May conduct fact gathering interviews with customers and/or witnesses to include preparing witnesses to testify in small claims court or in small arbitrations
  • Collect, review and draft legal documents, correspondence and other materials of some intermediate complexity
  • Maintain and update transaction and litigation files, including research, pleadings, discovery, and/or contract documents
  • Handle routine subpoenas: gathers responsive information, objects when appropriate, prepares documents for production and interacts with the requesting attorneys
  • Perform statistical analysis and documentary research
  • Monitor case schedules and filing deadlines
  • Summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimonies
  • Draft correspondence which includes; entity filings, consents, notices, schedules, closing documents, hearing and trial materials, pleadings, summarizing depositions, interrogatories, testimonies, motions, proposed orders, discovery requests and responses
  • Schedule and participate in witness interviews
  • Obtain, organize, and serve as point of contact for due diligence, litigation or projects
  • Perform documentary research to include analyzing statues, regulations, precedent, articles, codes and other legal resources
  • Draft legal hold notices, identify custodians, and track acceptance of the legal hold
  • Identify electronic data that is relevant to litigation and work with the eDiscovery Team regarding the collection and review of the data
  • Review case files for attorney(s) and prepare a summary including recommended course of action
  • Input and update information into the legal databases
  • Serve as liaison for internal clients, law firms, state and federal agencies, vendors, and customers
  • May attend court or hearings to support attorney(s)
  • Perform other duties as requested

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills /Abilities and Knowledge
Proficiency with Microsoft software
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, legal holds and other related matters
Legal research and investigative skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment

Education & Certifications
Paralegal certification or American Bar Association Approved curriculum required or Associates Degree in related field or equivalent experience
