Scooters Coffee, LLC is looking for a Paralegal to join the Franchise Recruitment team in its corporate headquarters. This position is full-time and will report to the Chief Development Officer. The Senior Paralegal will be responsible for reviewing and drafting franchise and franchisor-related agreements, supporting the Legal, Compliance and Development teams, and will assist with managing and ensuring compliance of Scooters Coffee franchises.


  • Assist Chief Legal Officer (CLO) with drafting, reviewing and revising legal documents including franchise agreements, area development agreements, amendments, default and termination notices, purchase agreements, and any other documentation relative to the franchisor and/or franchisees.
  • Manage tracking of agreements by maintaining and managing the central database of agreement and franchisee information
  • Monitor compliance with contract requirements for required opening dates, area development opening dates, franchise agreement renewals, and refresh/construction updates for franchise locations.
  • At the direction of the CLO and CDO, communicate directly with franchisees regarding legal notices or agreements.
  • Assist CLO in overseeing compliance with FTC (Federal Trade Commission) rules and regulations, as applied to franchisors.
  • Assist with vetting franchise prospects for ownership, including collecting entity and partnership information, and running and evaluating background and credit checks.
  • Manage licensing and compliance activities for new market setups including filing applications for business licenses and foreign entity qualifications, keeping track of deadlines and filing annual reports and licensing renewals.
  • Maintain Scooters legal files.
  • Suggest process improvements and enhancements, when identified.
  • Provide administrative support for Franchise Recruitment, as needed.

  • Demonstrated organization skills and strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point and contract management software


  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification required
  • At least five (5) years of corporate legal department and/or law firm experience required
  • Franchising experience is strongly preferred, but not required
