Legalpeople is seeking an Associate to join the Executive Compensation and Benefits Practice Group of a multi-office Plaintiff-side Labor & Employment litigation firm. The ideal candidate will have between 4 to 10 years’ experience negotiating executive employment and separation agreements and other transactional documents, plus very strong drafting, writing, and analytical skills and a commitment to representing individuals. Strong preference for applicants with experience with some or all of the following: offer letters and employment agreements for executives, managers, and other employees; partnership, shareholder, and LLC agreements; compensation, bonus, and equity agreements; severance, retention, and change-of-control agreements; expatriate agreements and secondment agreements; independent contractor and talent agreements, particularly in the entertainment industry; corporate restructuring agreements; and compensation issues, including deferred compensation issues under IRC Section 409A and 280G. Candidates with a strong skill set in contracts and compensation (including those with entertainment industry, tax, or corporate background) will succeed in this role. Attorneys with tax and/or employee benefits experience are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be part of a successful, diverse law firm that represents employees in all areas of employment law, including cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leaves of absence, layoffs and executive compensation. This specific team within the firm represents employees, executives and professionals in connection with all types of employment- or service-related agreements. The attorneys on this team have expertise in executive transactions, compensation, international employment law, compensation-related tax issues, and dispute resolution to service clients in a wide array of industries across the globe.

All applicants must be active members in good standing with a Bar in any US jurisdiction (active New York Bar membership is a plus). Attorneys with public speaking, publishing, and bar involvement are highly encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity to work for a firm that has very little turnover and that is committed to diversity among its lawyers and staff, and that also fosters a collegial and supportive workplace. This is a fully remote opportunity for the foreseeable future, so qualified candidates physically residing in any US state will be considered. However, there is a preference for Attorneys physically based on the east coast (as work hours will be based on EST). Some travel to the east coast offices for important meetings may be required in coming months.

If interested, please send a short COVER LETTER and RESUME to dc@legalpeoplegroup.com for immediate consideration. Professional references will be checked. Please specify “Professionals Practice Group Position” in the email header. Be advised that client firm will ultimately request a writing sample.
