Privacy Paralegal

Summary

The Global Privacy Paralegal provides support to the Global Privacy Office and Legal Department in handling privacy and data protection matters. The Global Privacy Paralegal will be responsible for providing day-to-day paralegal support, under the direction of the Paralegal Manager, to in-house counsel and other paralegals in multiple jurisdictions regarding privacy legal issues with different levels of complexity including, but not limited to, drafting, reviewing, negotiating, processing, revising, tracking, and filing of agreements, researching issues, and addresses incoming inquiries regarding privacy and data protection as well as providing assistance with special projects and performing other operational assignments for the Company and its subsidiaries. The Global Privacy Paralegal develops and maintains privacy and data protection knowledge and expertise to ensure effective paralegal and privacy function support. The position assists the development of policies and procedures, training, audits, and reporting for the privacy program.

What you'll do

  • Develop low and medium effort legal documents that require minimum independent drafting (primarily by utilizing company approved templates or modifying same), processing, revising, tracking, and filing agreements; including, but not limited to privacy or data protection provisions in, license agreements, sponsorship agreements, development agreements, management agreements, professional service agreements, technology, and system agreements, game sale agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and supplier agreements, among others as well as Data Protection Addenda.
  • Lead or assist with Global Privacy’s special projects.
  • Conduct basic, intermediate, and advanced legal, regulatory and business-related research for in-house counsel and clients as needed.
  • Ensure priority and rush assignments are handled effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist with due diligence investigations and/or requests in various jurisdictions in connection with Company transactions.
  • Consistently communicates assignment statuses to in-house counsel, business clients, and vendors to keep them informed during the review process.
  • Obtain and maintain advanced drafting knowledge of privacy provisions in contracts and of other privacy-related documents.
  • Gather information as requested to support the resolution of privacy matters.
  • Assist with the drafting of privacy policies and notices.
  • Reviews privacy impact assessments and transfer impact assessments to determine the level of privacy risk and escalate as needed.
  • Aid in the creation of privacy template library and updating same.
  • Provide basic and intermediate legal and/or business opinions to in-house counsel related to assigned requests.
  • Provide basic and intermediate guidance to clients, under the direction of in-house legal counsel, on contractual relationships and the impact of such relationships on the Company’s strategies and mission statements.
  • Provide training to clients and co-workers regarding process and “area of expertise” legal issues.
  • Negotiate privacy provisions of agreements and DPAs with authority to make final decisions on legal issues under the direction of in-house counsel.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and updating of various training materials.
  • Review documents prepared by junior paralegals and/or paralegals for accuracy prior to being submitted to the appropriate attorney, director, and/or client, as applicable.
  • Act as an ambassador to business clients and paralegal team by leading regularly scheduled status meetings as directed.

What we're looking for

  • Should possess between 4 plus years of experience at a law firm, in-house corporate legal department, or equivalent
  • legal experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Privacy certification preferred.
  • Experience with GDPRis preferred.
  • Corporate contracts or commercial legal experience is preferred
  • Self-motivated and efficient, with good business judgment and analytical skills.
  • Ability to efficiently manage a large workload and react promptly to multiple deadlines while meeting personal
  • and team objectives.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact effectively at all levels and divisions of the Company.
  • Must possess working knowledge of privacy terminology and principles.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work in a global, dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work with highly confidential and sensitive documents and information and maintain such
  • confidentiality to protect the Company.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Adobe AcrobatPro DC skills.
  • Knowledge of contract language and ability to understand and interpret terms and conditions proposed by vendors
  • and whether such terms should be negotiated.
