Deputy General Counsel – Government Contracts/Labor & Employment

POSITION SUMMARY

The position reports directly to the Company’s General Counsel, and works closely with other members of the Legal Department and CACI senior executives, in both staff and operations, advising them on key government contracts, and labor/employment issues of interest and providing them with both legal and business advice to support their needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Government contracts - support CACI’s contract and procurement activities in the negotiation and administration of the Company’s business, including interpreting, drafting and negotiating contract clauses, government claims, and business disputes and managing bid protests.
  • Labor & employment – responsible for assisting the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsels and Human Resources department in the handling of all labor and employment related matters in the Company. Matters will include, but are not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour law, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements, Title VII, ADA, FMLA, SCA, WARN, USERRA, ERISA, employment related arbitration and litigation, grievances and mediation, collective bargaining agreements, government contracts labor categories and employment related policies. Represent the Company in handling labor and employment matters before federal and state courts and administrative agencies.
  • Compliance – conduct internal investigations, serve as POC for government inquiries and investigations, oversee response to subpoenas and discovery requests, develop policies and procedures to comply with emerging federal procurement laws and regulations.
  • General - support legal matters as assigned by the General Counsel, including performing legal due diligence for acquisitions, supporting management in allocating corporate transaction risks; and managing corporate litigation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The position requires candidates with a minimum of 10 years of substantive experience in government contracts and labor and employment law with a corporate legal department or a nationally recognized law firm. Candidates should possess:

  • Working knowledge of government contracts and labor and employment laws and regulations, experience in preparation of all labor and employment related documents and overall compliance matters.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Reputation for and unqualified commitment to integrity and professionalism.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to employees and management at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and organization. Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to think critically and develop creative and practical solutions.
  • Highly adaptable to change; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-moving environment.

Bar: Juris Doctor and a member in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Security clearance: possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a Top Secret clearance.
