We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented paralegal responsible for providing practical and effective legal support in connection with industry-leading variable insurance products offered by Equitable. You will work closely with supervising attorneys to provide key support in the preparation and filing of SEC registration statements and related prospectus supplements in connection with variable annuity and variable life insurance products offered by Equitable. You will provide valuable assistance with regulatory examinations and related market conduct activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare, review and file variable annuity and variable life registration statements and supplements with the SEC
  • Prepare, review and file other required reports with the SEC in connection with variable insurance products
  • Work with securities counsel to coordinate and respond to SEC comments in connection with variable annuity and life insurance SEC filings
  • Assist with regulatory examinations and other market conduct related activities
  • Assist with legal research of both federal securities and state insurance law matters

Qualifications


Accuracy and Attention to Detail:
Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Document Management: Knowledge of document management; ability to categorize, integrate, update, document and distribute business information in a secure, effective way.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Legal Function: Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting, advice and assistance.

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications.

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience with Investment Company Act of 1940 securities filings and/or variable insurance products
  • Proven editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to maintain high level of professionalism under stress
  • Ability to work independently under strict deadlines
  • Experience using common content management tools is a plus
