Cisco, the world’s leading networking, communications, software and security company, is on a mission to empower an inclusive future for everyone. We’re proud to consistently be recognized as one of the best places in the world to work by Fortune, and we are looking for outstanding people to join our Channels Legal team.

What You'll Do

In your primary role, you’ll help create new routes to market supporting our Global Partner Transformation Team. You’ll also bring new products into our SolutionsPlus Program where we develop partnerships that enable our customers to order non-Cisco products from Cisco sales teams and channel partners.

Meanwhile, you’ll play a strategic role on the Channels Legal team as we continue to simplify and transform Cisco’s contractual relationships with our partners and resellers. These are among the most exciting problems in our business. You’ll help us tackle them in a stimulating, fast-paced environment with hard-working and creative people.

We are seeking a great teammate, excited to join a highly collaborative partner legal team, and eager to dive into a wide variety of work to help drive the business forward. We’re looking for a naturally curious, motivated self-starter who can:

  • Make sound legal judgments and take risks when it makes sense for the business
  • Give actionable legal advice in plain English
  • Draft elegant, concise legal documents
  • Negotiate complex agreements with new SolutionsPlus partners
  • Develop close working relationships with our business teams
  • Write a substantive email in five sentences or less
  • Map and navigate the details of new routes for Cisco products
  • Manage our legal relationships with key partner accounts

Who You Are

You are phenomenal at communicating useful legal advice to executives and business teams at all levels of the company. You have the confidence to accept legal risk when it’s necessary to enable business outcomes. You have a passion for both technology and the craft of being a lawyer.

You love being a member of a team and cheering for your colleagues. You put people at ease in stressful situations. You are dependable and responsive (while we typically have no need to work nights or weekends, we want you to be open to it if the business needs your support).

Finally, you have a self-deprecating sense of humor and occasionally devastating wit.

Minimum Qualifications for this Role:

  • 2-4 years of experience practicing law, including previous in-house experience in a transactional role representing technology companies
  • Committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Direct experience negotiating complex partner/resale, SaaS, and licensing transactions (not required, but a definite plus)
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish
  • Proficient with basic US anti-trust law and at least one global privacy framework
  • Bachelor’s degree, J.D., and bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction

Why Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do – you can’t put us in a box!

But “Digital Transformation” is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us!

Cisco Covid-19 Vaccination Policy
The health and safety of Cisco's employees, customers, and partners is a top priority. Our goal is to protect and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 infection for strong business resiliency during the pandemic. Therefore, Cisco requires all new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the U.S., unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law, and in countries where COVID-19 vaccination is legally required. The company will consider legally required accommodations/exceptions for medical, religious, and other reasons as per the requirements of the role and in accordance with applicable law. Additional information will be provided to candidates about the requirements and accommodation process at the offer time based on region.
