JOB SUMMARY

Good storytelling starts with great listening. At Audible, that means each role and every project has our audience in mind. Because the same people who design, develop, and deploy our products also happen to use them. To us, that speaks volumes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated individual to manage the legal operations program and support legal-adjacent projects and operational activities. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a dynamic in-house legal department with a high level of responsibility.

ABOUT YOU

You have a proven track record of showing attention to detail, being able to work independently with little supervision, and drive results across functions. Excellent task prioritization and communication skills are a must. Knowledge and experience of legal and/or privacy projects, and a basic knowledge of how a tech-driven company functions are plusses. Integrity and discretion in handling confidential information, and professionalism in dealing with senior executives inside and outside the company is key, including problem solving skills and managing with diplomacy and discretion will be part of the role. You will require working with teams from around the world, and teams operating in both virtual and face-to-face environments.

As Program Manager, Legal Operations, you will...
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects; such as onboarding new contract authoring, contract execution, records management, outside counsel spend management and other legal administration and simplification tools. This includes creating and owning a roadmap for planned and unplanned projects, and creating priorities based on your judgment on which will have the greatest impact.
  • Gather feedback from legal team leaders, co-workers, and business colleagues to inform roadmap prioritization and new simplification project ideation. Exercise judgment in when to escalate prioritization decisions where competing priorities may lead to conflict or where additional resources (team allocation, temporary staff, or outside counsel) may be added to avoid such conflicts.
  • Support privacy and compliance initiatives with project management related to adoption of new regulatory and business requirements, including coordination between legal, product, and tech teams.
  • Drive the international adoption of legal ops tools and processes through planning and advocating for adoption, as well as the logistics of adoption like authoring self-service guides and running frequent trainings.
  • Own Audible’s contract execution, spend approval, records management and retention systems and processes, including (dotted line) supervision of team’s legal assistant(s) and junior contract managers. Identify gaps and inefficiencies and implement simplification projects and other process improvements.
  • Oversee outside counsel spend management, including by serving as liaison to the Amazon outside legal operations team responsible for outside counsel management, establishing processes for team attorneys to estimate spend and update assessments over time and oversee the work of legal assistants in executing on those processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of program management experience involving multiple competing project priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Proven success meeting deadlines and driving projects with multiple team members with minimal direction.
  • Proven success in supporting remote/virtual teams across multiple countries/locations, including use of tools, processes, and soft skills to increase team effectiveness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Comfort with learning new programs and software.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A desire and aptitude for learning new concepts on the job.
  • Superb attention to detail, project tracking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • PMP, Scalable Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum Master Certificate (SMC), Kanban Professional (KMP 1), or similar project management certification.
  • Understanding of basic privacy concepts, such as the definition of personal data and the right of access and deletion of personal information.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Visio, Jira, Confluence, Wiki, Sharepoint or similar enterprise software solutions.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar team budget.
  • Experience with process auditing, improvement and change management.
