Legal.io is working with a leading airline company to hire a remote Contracts Counsel - IT Procurement for a 6 month, 30 hour per week contract assignment.

What You’ll Do:

Provide legal counsel and guidance on all aspects of IT-related transactions (with an emphasis on SAAS subscriptions and conversions of on-prem to cloud services).

Independently handle and provide actionable and practical counseling to internal business partners, such as the IT Procurement team, in connection with IT transactions (primarily IT licenses and purchases); draft and negotiate related agreements and occasionally other commercial agreements.

Negotiate and draft IT agreements and advising on software and other IT-related matters (experience negotiating IP issues related to software is preferred)

Must have good market knowledge of IT software and services (both maintenance/support and consulting/development) to not only identify risk, but also understand whether risks presented are reasonable.

Excellent time management skills, responsiveness, and business judgment with a capacity to make decisions and give practical, timely, clear and accurate legal advice

Strong interpersonal communication skills that enable individual to work effectively with a wide range of strategic, technical and practical aspects of business

Required Qualifications:

Must have 7+ years of experience working at a law firm or in-house, in a procurement (commercial) counsel or related experience position

JD and active state bar license

Ability to partner with the business team to solve complex issues by providing concise, pragmatic advice

Familiarity with IP issues in the context of IT agreements is preferred

Duration: 6 month contract

Hours: 30hrs/week

Pay: $80-$120 per hour (depending on directly relevant experience level)
