Counsel - Bank Supervisory and Regulatory Attorney I 

Description

This attorney will cover supervisory and regulatory affairs as a member of BNY Mellon’s Public Policy and Government Affairs team within the Legal Department.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Office of Regulatory Relations and advising businesses and corporate functions in connection with all aspects of BNY Mellon’s regulatory and supervisory relationships, including regulatory policy and supervisory examinations;  
  • Providing legal guidance on the execution and implementation of regulatory remediation projects;
  • Identifying emerging supervisory trends and advising businesses and corporate functions on supervisory expectations;
  • Analyzing proposed and final regulations and guidance; and
  • Preparing speakers and materials for supervisory and regulatory interactions. 

This attorney will work closely with colleagues in the Legal Department, Office of Regulatory Relations, businesses, and corporate functions in executing on BNY Mellon’s regulatory and supervisory strategy. 

 

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of legal experience at a law firm, large financial institution, or federal banking or regulatory agency;
  • Strong working knowledge of the financial services industry, U.S. banking agencies, and the regulatory landscape;
  • Excellent analytical and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex regulations;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and time sensitive issues;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across different teams;
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing issues and regulatory priorities; and
  • Proactive self-starter that demonstrates initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness to work independently
