As the Assistant General Counsel, Legal and Regulatory, you will closely partner with our General Counsel and be a key leader in our Legal team. You will be a “hands-on” leader providing legal counsel and support to senior management in its mission to make world-class healthcare accessible to everyone. This position requires a broad understanding of product, commercial, intellectual property, privacy, transactional, employment, and litigation matters.  This is an ideal role for an in-house generalist with strong leadership skills to partner with the General Counsel to optimize the legal function in an innovative and fast-growing company.
 
This role is REMOTE friendly and can be located anywhere in the U.S.!
 

What You'll Do

  • Serve as lead counsel on health care regulatory and other general matters providing business-focused advice to business units including Clinical Operations, Compliance, Product, Growth, Sales, Data Science, Design, Marketing, Talent, and People
  • Assist in developing  legal strategy aligned with core business initiatives and advise leadership on legal considerations around strategic business decisions 
  • Serve as the escalation point of contact for review of a wide variety of commercial agreements
  • Advise on data and privacy issues 
  • Provide legal support on merger and acquisition diligence 
  • Provide legal support for product launches, including regulatory review as well as design and marketing input 
  • Assist the General Counsel with ongoing and future litigation matters
  • Manage other special projects as required to support the business

About You

  • Graduate of an accredited law school (JD) and bar admission in good standing in one or more states (California preferred)
  • 8-12 years of experience practicing law with a combination of law firm and in-house experience with progressively increasing responsibilities
  • Prior experience managing teams of attorneys, paralegals, and/or equity plan administrators
  • Prior experience with a healthcare company and/or strong preference for prior experience with a tech startup
  • Practical knowledge in a wide range of legal areas including privacy, mergers and acquisitions, product support, commercial transactions, employment, marketing, intellectual property, and healthcare regulatory (including FDA) 
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change within a rapidly growing company
  • Team player with a high level of professionalism and commitment to developing strong relationships with colleagues, internal clients, and teams across the business
