SUMMARY

The Senior Paralegal – Regulatory & Licensing role supports the legal department, focusing on healthcare regulatory compliance and licensure for properties within Welltower's RIDEA portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists internal regulatory counsel with Welltower’s regulatory and compliance strategy, framework, documentation, and its application across Welltower.
  • Review, coordinate, collect, and maintain documentation for change of ownership applications, healthcare and liquor licensure applications and renewals, government and third-party payor agreements and certifications, and related filings, including for dispositions, conversions, and new developments.
  • Maintains database of licensed facilities; creates and maintains system for tracking and reporting relating to all licenses and certifications; finds opportunities for process improvement.
  • Research state and federal statutes and regulations related to senior housing operations and licensure and tracks requirements in accessible and useful manner.
  • Provides regulatory and licensing support and strategy for active RIDEA transactions, including assistance with structuring, including interim structures, fictious business names, and complex entity management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Experience:  At least 5 years of experience as a paralegal is required (depending on educational background), including some experience with corporate law, licensing, and healthcare regulatory compliance. Knowledge of seniors housing and real estate industries highly preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 5 years’ experience, or Associate’s Degree with an additional 5 years (10+ years) of paralegal experience.

Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
