IP Litigation Associate Attorney

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global Am Law 50 law firm, is seeking a mid-level (2-6 years) Patent Litigator to join our Intellectual Property team in our Silicon Valley or San Francisco offices.

This position is based in the Silicon Valley office; however, strong candidates will also be considered for our San Francisco office. There is only one position.

Our Silicon Valley office, which has been consistently named by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Bay Area’s “Best Places to Work,” is seeking an associate with 2-6 years of experience for its rapidly expanding intellectual property practice. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to work on patent litigation matters (including district court actions, inter partes reviews, and licensing negotiations) for top clients. Our Silicon Valley intellectual property clients range from publicly traded household names in the tech industry, top semiconductor companies, famous streaming companies, to high profile Silicon Valley startups.  The team is known for having the highest institution rate for IPRs in the country.

The Silicon Valley office’s intellectual property team maintains a close-knit, casual office environment that fosters teamwork and ample career development opportunities. Further, senior lawyers in the practice will actively provide training and assist with career development. Numerous members of our team are diverse.

Sheppard Mullin's IP practice continues to grow. Since 2010, the IP practice group has strategically grown from 45 to over 130 IP professionals firmwide. We represent leading and emerging companies, and take pride in offering a diverse, collaborative team of attorneys and patent agents who are committed to professional excellence in a collegial environment.

Successful candidates will work in our Silicon Valley office in accordance with Sheppard Mullin’s Return to Office policy and flexible working arrangements. Qualified candidates should have experience litigating intellectual property disputes, such as district court patents cases or PTAB proceedings. Candidates should possess a background in science and technology, ideally with a degree in areas such as electrical engineering, computer science, or physics. Candidates must be admitted to practice in California.
