Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Head of Intellectual Property and other legal colleagues to develop and manage systems, projects and processes.
  • Assist in development and implementation of any new systems, processes or databases.
  • Manage internal databases and updates regarding all patent and trademark matters.
  • Assist in IP litigation matters, including document production, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Internal/external alignment and preparation for depositions, expert witness activities and associated tasks and events.
  • Assist with invoicing, management of external counsel billing and invoicing.
  • Conduct legal research on various intellectual property and legal issues, including prior art searches, trademark availability searches, and case law research.
  • Organize and maintain intellectual property records, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and licensing agreements.
  • Communicate with clients, patent examiners, trademark examiners, external counsel, business partners and foreign associates regarding various IP matters.
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and IP professionals, including preparing correspondence, managing calendars, and scheduling meetings.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing licensing agreements, assignments, confidentiality agreements, and other IP-related contracts.
  • Stay informed about changes in intellectual property laws and regulations.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field.

Certification in paralegal studies preferred.

Required Skills And Experience

  • 7+ years of paralegal experience, preferably within in-house experience in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong understanding of legal and IP terminology, procedures, and concepts.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Suite
