- Pay Rate: $110 - $135 / hr
Job description:
- Manage and lead litigation and arbitration matters, with a focus on government contracts protests and claims involving government customers and suppliers
- Oversee international disputes and manage international arbitration cases.
- Develop and implement strategies for resolving complex legal issues while maintaining good business and political acumen.
- Ensure compliance with all legal standards and regulations, particularly those related to government contracts.
- Provide counseling to business lawyers and management on the resolution of pre-litigation disputes.
Role:
- Be able to integrate with company as if part of in-house team
- Manage/interact with Outside Counsel • Help manage a wide variety of litigation and dispute resolution matters
- Government contract protests (not too many of those, but generally 2-3 annually. Often go forward with one annually.)
- Cases where the Government is the customer and disagreement over performance of the contract, or nonpayment, or changes to the contract.
- Supplier disputes
- international arbitration.
- All of the cases will have Outside Counsel support, but the company needs someone to take an active strategic role in directing the strategy of the cases.
- Role will not be in court often; no L&E litigation
Qualifications:
- Member of a state bar in good standing
- Strong litigation strategy skills Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Over 10 years of litigation experience, with a strong background in government contracts, compliance, and global trade matters (TAR and EAR) matters.
- Proven track record in managing government contracts protests and claims. • Experience in civil commercial litigation.
- Familiarity with international arbitration and dispute resolution.
- Strong ability to counsel business lawyers and management on pre-litigation disputes.
- Excellent business and political acumen.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Excellent writing, drafting, and interpretation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively, collegially, and collaboratively in a team environment with multiple levels of the organization.
- Well-organized, with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume workload (multiple projects at once) and drive issues to timely conclusion, provide timely responses, and set/manage deadline expectations.
