About This Role

Wells Fargo is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Vice President for its Outside Counsel and Third Party Risk Management Section. This individual will lead strategic department-wide initiatives aimed at effective management of external legal spend and increasing efficiencies in the delivery of legal services.

In This Role, You Will

  • Help set and execute on the strategy for effectively managing external legal spend while maintaining excellent legal representation for the bank.
  • Monitor progress against key goals and metrics and proactively work with the Legal Department to identify ways to achieve those goals.
  • Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as a key participant in large scale planning.
  • Review and analyze complex large scale or long-term challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors.
  • Draft complex legal documents, review and negotiate documents.
  • Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution.
  • Develop and lead implementation of strategic business initiatives, and lead work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives.
  • Collaborate strategically with peers, colleagues, and mid-level to more experienced managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to navigate complex negotiations
  • Experience with alternate fee arrangements and law firm billing models
  • Experience working in-house and engaging with outside counsel
  • Experience with Legal operations
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment while building relationships and negotiating for positive business outcomes while effectively managing legal risk
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex business activities and operations
  • Proven ability to create and sustain effective, influential, and trusted relationships with business and staff group leader

  • Position will require onsite presence from any of the required locations listed below

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
