About the Role :
We are seeking a skilled Data Privacy Attorney for a part-time, 6-month contract position in a hybrid role. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional with expertise in data privacy law to provide critical guidance and support on a range of privacy matters. You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations, manage data-related risks, and advise on best practices for data protection.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide legal counsel on matters related to data privacy and protection, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other relevant global privacy regulations.
- Advise on privacy-related aspects of contracts, including data processing agreements and vendor agreements.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and ensure compliance with privacy policies and procedures.
- Stay informed on new and evolving data privacy laws and regulations and recommend changes to policies as necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of data privacy training programs.
- Advise on incident response and data breach notifications.
- Support the company’s overall data protection strategy and compliance programs.
Requirements :
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience specializing in data privacy law.
- Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy laws.
- Experience drafting and negotiating data protection agreements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
- CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or other relevant privacy certifications.
- Experience working with multinational organizations.
- Familiarity with emerging privacy technologies and cybersecurity issues.
