Responsible for supervising the Company's Liability claims including oversight of the 3rd party claims administrator and approving cost-effective claim settlements. Oversees moderately complex Liability claims with minimal supervision. Supports organizational processes and programs for mitigation of financial risk. Analyzes, researches and formulates a basis on which coverage decisions will be made, conducts thorough investigations, evaluates damages and liability. Provides settlement authority to 3rd party administrator. Other responsibilities include oversight of 3rd party administrator claim reserves, presentation of serious claims to management and supervision of litigated files in coordination with Law Department attorneys.
Job Responsibilities
- Reviews, analyzes and evaluates the investigation, adjustment and reserving for moderately complex Liability claims. Provides oversight of the 3rd party claims administrator to assure proper handling and compliance with our claims handling guidelines. Provides settlement authority to 3rd party administrator.
- Collaborates with in-house and outside legal counsel to assure proper claims handling on litigated files. Participates in weekly Suit Committee meetings to evaluate new lawsuits and determine it can be resolved at an early date to reduce outside legal expense.
- Communicates and collaborates with other internal departments as needed to effectively manage the Liability claims and provide customer service to internal and external customers.
- Conducts claim reviews and audits of the 3rd party claims administrator to ensure compliance with our claims handling guidelines.
- Maintain and apply knowledge of all laws and practices pertaining to the investigation, processing and settlement of Liability claims.
- Develops and recommends the implementation of changes to Liability claims procedures to improve cost effective claims handling and to minimize Company costs.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 years of experience in Liability claims or High School Diploma and at least 4 years of Liability claims experience.
- Basic knowledge of a TPA on-line claims system.
- Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
- Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
- Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Risk Management and at least 3 years of experience handling Liability claims.
- Knowledge of Liability claims and 3rd party claim management systems; risk management; insurance coverages and policies.
