About the Team:
We are currently seeking a licensed attorney to serve as Associate Counsel within our Legal Compliance and Policy Team. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled, detail-oriented attorney, who is capable of multi-tasking, has exceptional writing skills (writing for business), and can be flexible enough to work on diverse legal projects and take direction from multiple team leaders. The location for this role is in our corporate headquarters, Irvine, California. This role is expected to be in-office five days per week. Occasional travel may be required.
What You Will Do:
Public Policy
- Monitor and review laws, rules, and regulations.
- Draft executive summaries of laws, rules, and regulations.
- Prepare monthly reporting for senior leadership on laws, rules and regulations.
- Participate in trade association public policy working groups at the direction of leadership within the Legal Compliance and Policy Team.
- Attend routine meetings with lobbyists and other consultants as needed at the direction of leadership within the Legal Compliance and Policy Team.
Compliance
- Assist in the development, enhancement, or improvement of legally mandated compliance programs across multiple different subject areas.
- Draft company policies, standard operating procedures, training materials, and other documents needed to ensure effective and consistent operation of company compliance programs.
- Provide legal guidance to different areas of the business on new or changing compliance requirements, and assist the business in developing remediation plans for potential non-compliance if needed.
Other
- Conduct legal research as assigned.
- Prepare forms, charts, presentations, training materials, and other documentation as assigned.
- Support other legal function areas as assigned.
About You:
Required qualifications:
- Juris doctor from an accredited law school, with admission to the California State Bar (or ability to be registered in-house counsel).
- 4-5 years’ experience working either in-house or a combination of in-house and law firm experience.
- Experience with FiscalNote or other legislative monitoring service.
- Strong understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and rule making process at the US Federal level.
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and providing legal guidance on regulations enacted by US Federal regulatory agencies and/or equivalent state agencies.
- Strong writing skills – writing for business, ability to succinctly explain key points/critical issues.
- Strong communication skills – ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Strong project and time management skills – ability to handle multiple tasks with conflicting priorities and deadlines, ability to ensure daily/weekly/monthly KPIs are met on time while working on other projects.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a sense of humor and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to take on new projects, learn new areas of the law, and step up to support the team on issues that may be unfamiliar to you.
Extra credit:
- Experience in, or a passion for, the consumer electronics industry.
- In-depth experience with legislative process or lobbying.
- Experience working with trade associations on public policy initiatives.
- Familiarity with the following laws, rules, and related regulations: CVAA, UFLPA, Export Controls, RoHS, TSCA, TV energy efficiency (state/federal), California Prop 65, Secure Equipment Act of 2021.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office 365 including PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

For California-based employment: The minimum salary for this position is $102,000/year. The maximum salary for this position $132,000/year. In addition to base salary, the compensation package also includes eligibility for an annual bonus, as well as equity and a range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits.
