Nestlé USA, Inc. is seeking a Trademark Paralegal to work with some of the most exciting consumer brands such as Stouffer's®, DiGiorno®, Coffee mate®, Nestlé® Toll House®, Nesquik®, Nespresso®, San Pellegrino®, and more! As Trademark Paralegal you will work with a variety of businesses and legal colleagues on trademark and copyright matters across the full scope of Nestlé USA products and offerings.

As a member of the Nestlé USA Brand IP legal team of dynamic intellectual property professionals, you'll ensure that Nestlé's intellectual property assets are strategically developed, appropriately managed, and sufficiently protected to support our business.  You'll work in close collaboration with Nestlé’s US and global Brand IP organization. 

We are seeking qualified, highly motivated, collaborative and energetic Trademark Paralegal candidates with experience In the following areas:

 

Essential Functions:

  • Conducting trademark database searches and common law searches and preparing preliminary clearance reports for attorney review.
  • Corresponding with business teams concerning trademark clearance, trademark applications, trademark registration maintenance, and trademark usage.
  • Preparing US trademark prosecution and maintenance filings for attorney review, including applications, office action responses, extensions of time, statements of use, affidavits, and renewals.
  • Providing guidance internally regarding proper use of trademarks.
  • Assisting with enforcement matters, including background research, and gathering and managing evidence and documents for trademark oppositions and cancellations and domain disputes.
  • Support domain name registration and management.
  • Supporting copyright matters.
  • Reviewing product documentation for trademark use and intellectual property notices.
  • Assisting in process improvements and development of process documentation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a trademark paralegal including domestic trademark searching.
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
  • Highly detail-oriented and strong proofreading skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to consistently plan, organize, work independently, think critically, meet deadlines, and remain flexible in a multi-task environment.
  • Foundational knowledge of domestic and foreign trademark law, policies, and processes.
  • Proficiency with Saegis, Corsearch, or similar search database, MS Office products, particularly MS Word and Excel, and Power Point.
  • In-house experience is a plus.
