Position Specific Description

Gexa Energy, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, is seeking an experienced M&A attorney for its power and gas business to support mergers and acquisitions. The role will include managing due diligence, instructing outside counsel, performing thorough document review and drafting essential documents for each deal. The attorney will oversee transactions ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and will be able to handle multiple M&A efforts concurrently. The attorney will also handle post-closing tasks such as drafting amendments, reviewing closing terms, assisting the business with assignments, and managing transition service agreements. This ongoing legal support is crucial for the seamless integration and transition post-acquisition. The candidate should have extensive experience with asset and equity transactions. Experience with gas and power assets is preferred.

•   Provides written and oral legal advice to clients
•   Anticipates and guards against legal risks involving the organization
•   Works to ensure budget compliance and avoids the need for outside counsel
•   Ensures disclosure of potentially material legal issues to senior leadership
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Member in Good Standing of State Bar
•  High School Grad / GED
•  Juris Doctorate
•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 2+ years
