We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for a 12-month contractual engagement within the Engineering Application Services team. This role will focus on managing multiple ongoing technical projects and assisting in the development of essential technical guidelines and workflows, which are vital to the Preconstruction Engineering Design and CADD processes in transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Decompose tasks into clearly defined and manageable work items for various technical projects.
- Prioritize and monitor the progress of work items and deliverables.
- Guarantee that all work items and deliverables are scheduled, completed, and presented to clients punctually, accompanied by comprehensive and usable documentation.
- Formulate and uphold CADD guidelines and workflows to enhance the departmental administration and application of Bentley and other CADD systems.
- Document program and project deliverables as assigned.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure synchronized business processes.
- Prepare and present training materials as necessary.
- Oversee quality control and maintenance of the team’s project task register and deliverables.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, particularly in IT-related initiatives and programs.
- Proven capability in crafting clear and concise technical training documents and user guides.
- Strong analytical and conceptual abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive outlook.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, adept at explaining business processes to IT users and IT applications to business stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational and presentation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Familiarity with the application development life cycle.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant project management experience.
- Proven experience in technical documentation and training material production.
- Understanding of NCDOT engineering design processes and transportation lifecycle business processes is advantageous.
- Familiarity with AGILE development methodology is a plus.
