As the Executive Director, Equity Compliance & Title IX, you will report to the General Counsel. This position will lead and manage the following key departments that are responsible for developing, monitoring and implementing compliance policies and procedures for investigating and responding to discrimination complaints, including complaints alleging violations of Title IX, and all other complaints filed pursuant to Board Policy 1312.3. Administers, interprets, and applies provisions of the Education Code, relevant Federal and State laws, district policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. Finally, the Executive Director will have experience conducting investigations into allegations of student-related complaints, as well as supervising individuals who conduct those investigations. ResponsibilitiesEnsures district-wide compliance with State law and Federal law regulations, regarding Title IX, Uniform Complaint procedure, Nondiscrimination, Bullying & Harassment, Hate-motivated behavior policiesUltimate responsibility for procedural management of complaints, assigning and supporting investigators by providing timely, thorough, and accurate responses, and implementing corrective actionsImplements and facilitates the District’s compliance processes, including but not limited to students and family complaints, including discrimination and harassmentProvides advice to administrators and supervisors related to Bullying & HarassmentLeads the investigation process for Title IX complaints against employees and allegations related to student safety from the inception to conclusionCoordinates and responds to findings from federal and state compliance agenciesMaintains an up-to-date and relevant district complaint matrix and logs for all complaints within the Office of Equity’s responsibilitiesAct as the District's Title IX Coordinator, with some duties and responsibilities assigned to other team members Demonstrate a Leadership MindsetLead the Department consistent with the mission and core values of SFUSD, using a district-wide lens in day-to-day workFocus on the continuous improvement of self, team, and organizationAbility to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion, integrity and consistent with ethical obligations Manage to ResultsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervisionDemonstrate a high level of organization and attention to detailMake and communicate decisions effectivelyCreatively and efficiently solve problemsDemonstrate strong analytical and negotiation skills and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists Manage TeamsLead and guide team members to achieve desired resultsGrow and develop team members to enable them to reach their potentialCreate a positive team environment grounded in respect, trust, and authenticityCreated various modes of training materials and assist with professional development on the prevention of harassment and bullying.
