Salary/Hourly Rate
$165k – $180k
Position Overview
This Legal Counsel focuses primarily on supporting the Sales team by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with clients and partners. As a key legal advisor, the Legal Counsel will ensure that agreements align with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements while enabling the business to scale efficiently. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working both remotely and onsite at our client’s Salt Lake City office.
Responsibilities Of The Legal Counsel
Contract Drafting and Negotiation: The Legal Counsel will draft, review, and negotiate SaaS sales agreements, master service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and related documents. The Legal Counsel will provide guidance to the sales team on contract terms, risks, and legal implications. Risk Management: Identify potential risks in contractual terms and propose solutions to mitigate them. The Legal Counsel will ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Stakeholder Collaboration: The Legal Counsel will act as a liaison between the sales, finance, and operations teams to address contract-related matters. Work closely with external legal counsel as needed. Process Improvement: The Legal Counsel will develop and refine templates, playbooks, and workflows to streamline contract negotiation processes. Educate internal stakeholders on legal best practices and contract compliance.
Qualifications For The Legal Counsel
3+ years of legal experience, with a focus on commercial contracts (SaaS experience is strongly preferred). Proven track record of negotiating sales contracts, preferably in a SaaS or technology environment. Solid understanding of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and software licensing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law.
