Job Description

The Role

Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a full time, Attorney Professional Development Coordinator. The role will also be responsible for staffing, coaching, training, mentoring and CLE while providing support to our junior attorneys in our "Transactional Pool" program. The role will interact with the Transactional (Global Financial Markets, Corporate and Real Estate) practices in the New York office and provide support to the broader Professional Development team. This position is in our New York, NY office and will report to the Head of Professional Development - Americas.

_RESPONSIBILITIES

_

  • Collaborate with partners and other senior attorneys to allocate assignments for the junior attorneys in the Transactional practices
  • Support the Firm's people and talent initiatives with a focus on attorney professional development
  • Support the performance management process for attorneys, including elevating performance issues as needed and acting as an escalation point for outstanding appraisal completion for junior attorneys
  • Conduct career development meetings with junior attorneys and build development plans to address any concerning feedback
  • Participate in the Firm's annual attorney review processes
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with the junior lawyers to assess areas of interest and to ensure receipt of a broad range of projects/opportunities
  • Collaborate with the wider Human Resources team and Partners in the Transactional practices to help support the attorney life cycle including flagging performance issues
  • Develop strong working relationships with attorneys to effectively support them and actively participate in their career development
  • Responsible for planning and implementation of internal and external training programs
  • Analyze a variety of reports in order to aggregate and synthesize data on associate availability and utilization including addressing any issues
  • Manage orientation for the junior attorneys
  • Collaborate with the Resource Management team in Delhi
  • Manage the mentoring program for the junior attorneys including providing recommendations for mentor assignments
  • Assist with the Bar admissions process for the junior attorneys
  • Coordinate the client secondment process
  • Work closely with the Professional Development Team on various ad hoc projects as and when required and perform any other assignments as assigned

Qualifications

_REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES

_

  • 3+ years of professional development/human resources experience in a professional services organization; law firm experience preferred
  • Experience in work allocation and staffing preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and growing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Facility in making effective decisions using sound judgment
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and maintain strong internal working relationships
  • Excellent organizational and client service skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (with a high degree of proficiency in Excel)
  • Ability to work outside the core business hours as needed
  • Ability to travel to as needed (infrequent)
  • Must be able to adhere and comply with the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week.
  • Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States

Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $95,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
