The Board and Corporate Governance Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective governance practices for the organization, its Board, and committees, aligning their work with overarching organizational goals.
In this role, the Director partners closely with the Vice President, Assistant Corporate Secretary, and Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretary to facilitate collaboration between the Board and the Executive Team.
Key responsibilities include managing logistics for Board and committee meetings, such as facilitating communications, attending meetings, and recording minutes. The Director also oversees corporate documents and records, ensuring compliance with DC non-profit laws and supporting the annual external audit.
Additionally, the Director reviews materials for Board and committee meetings, including quarterly and ad hoc reports, to support informed decision-making. They draft official communications, oversee the timely distribution of meeting materials, and act as the custodian of critical governance records.
The Director coordinates with subsidiary and affiliate Board governance staff and the Executive Team on governance matters and assists in preparing governance updates, reports, and talking points for the Board and its leadership.
They also maintain the corporate governance repository, ensuring policies and practices are up to date, while supporting business units in creating standards to enhance operational efficiency.
This role provides a strong foundation for productive and efficient governance operations, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and best practices.

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
