Director / Associate General Counsel for Partners and Products, Branded Cards

The attorney in this role will provide legal support to Branded Cards, which includes the proprietary, co-brand, and lending businesses of Citigroup. This attorney will be part of the legal team working directly with Branded Cards business management and external clients on negotiating and documenting credit card program agreements and portfolio purchase and sale agreements, product development and implementation, acquisition and marketing offers, the solicitation and origination of consumer and commercial credit card accounts, and the ongoing support of the business in its client relationships.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have significant experience in (1) contract negotiation and drafting, and (2) federal and state consumer credit laws and regulations, including the open-end provisions of Truth-in-Lending/Regulation Z, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act/Regulation B, the Fair Credit Reporting Act/Regulation V, Electronic Funds Transfers/Regulation E, and UDAAP. This includes providing legal advice and counsel in connection with the following functions and activities:

  • Credit card account origination and issuance
  • Unsecured lending products
  • Digital applications and wallets

  • Issue identification and remediation
  • Policy and procedure review
  • Credit bureau reporting, data security and privacy
  • Counter-party and vendor contracting
  • Review of consumer disclosures and marketing materials

Candidate must have:

  • A Juris Doctor degree
  • A license in good standing to practice law in at least one state
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrably strong contract negotiating and drafting skills

Years of Experience (Preferred):At least 15 years of experience in the practice of law and 5 years of relevant experience in the credit card industry.
