Litigation Support Specialist 2 (Senior Paralegal)

Job Description

Works under the direction of a Task Supervisor, or Project Manager. Work products are reviewed prior to submission; however, often develops these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines. In addition to functions performed by a Litigation Support Specialist 1 as described above, performs moderately complex legal research. Synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use. Reviews case related materials and identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation. Writes preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence. Requires paralegal certificate. An equivalent level of legal training may be substituted. At least two years of litigation paralegal experience required. Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Hands-on familiarity with Electronically Stored Information (ESI) tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources required.


What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Work directly with the eDiscovery Counsel (EDC)
  • Perform legal research on discovery and other litigation-related issues including asset discovery and collection
  • Compile Litigation Hold Reports for individual cases, investigations, and global metrics
  • Draft and prepare Notices/Releases of Litigation Hold in the system for review and issuance by EDC.
  • Track and compile reports on court dockets for active litigation, including identifying different phases of litigation and deadlines
  • Work within Relativity and other platforms to identify and isolate non-relevant data
  • Track cases in Legal Files and upload case documents

  • Respond directly to requests from the EDC
  • Work independently and report on status and results


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting legal documents, ex: Motions, Notices, etc.
  • Fluency in Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Suite
  • Experience organizing meetings, logistical planning, keeping track of multiple projects and events
  • Experience working independently on very in-depth projects
  • Experience in problem solving complex issues
  • Requires paralegal certificate. An equivalent level of legal training may be substituted.
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience required.
  • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Electronically Stored Information (ESI) tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources required.
  • Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Federal Asset Collection
  • Litigation support services experience in bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings, rulemaking challenges, or employment litigation
  • Experience with Relativity and Legal Files
