Corporate Paralegal

The NWSL office is growing to meet the demands of the changing global landscape of professional women's soccer. We are looking for individuals who desire to make an impact on the future of sport in the United States.

Position Description

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Paralegal will provide general legal administrative support to the Legal Department. The ideal candidate is intelligent, hardworking and self-starting, reliable, organized, and can manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This position is based in Chicago, IL however, due to the current pandemic conditions work may temporarily be done remotely.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Draft, prepare and review a variety of transactional documents, including licenses, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other documents as assigned.
  • Maintain contract management system, developing and generating a standard report package for NWSL's senior leadership.
  • Manage intellectual property portfolio, including interacting with outside counsel regarding filing of trademark applications, gathering specimens for applications, and drafting and reviewing cease and desist letters.
  • Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues as appropriate.
  • Manage and enforce document retention policy.
  • Support risk management efforts and management of insurance policies.
  • Provide miscellaneous administrative support to legal department as needed (including, but not limited to, scheduling).
  • Ongoing organization of internal records, including company minute books and other company documents.
  • Perform other ad hoc projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited paralegal program.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong teamwork and relationship management skills; works effectively as a liaison between the legal department and all internal clients and external partners/stakeholder.
  • Proven ability to conduct research and manage projects and documents, including contracts.
  • Ability to be flexible and resourceful in response to changing priorities and needs.
  • Demonstrated willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and accept new challenges.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and must be able to effectively manage communications and projects with a remote workforce.
  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and dedication in the fulfillment of commitments.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work nontraditional hours.

Salary Range:
$45,000-$50,000 per year
