General Counsel

Overview

The General Counsel handles the day-to-day legal matters that contribute to the execution of the mission to support our customers' success in the construction, manufacturing and distribution markets.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

Review and interpret construction and procurement contracts in order to minimize risk to the company's various entities.
Represent the company's various entities in negotiations and other legal matters.
Manage claims, litigation and miscellaneous legal matters.
Draft, revise, and prepare contractual, corporate and other legal documents.
In collaboration with external labor counsel, participate in employment and litigation defense.
Work with external legal resources and Human Resources to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
Generally, reviewing, advising, reporting and giving opinion, recommendation, guidance, support and assistance on contractual and legal transactions, disputes, matters and risks affecting the business, including those related to labor, joint venture, intellectual property, disputes, compliance with regulatory and other general legal issues, risks and exposures.
Manage contract administration personnel

Qualifications

Qualification Must have:

3-7 years' experience with at least 3 years of in-house corporate legal transactional experience.
Strong communication skills – oral, written and presentations
Ability to balance business needs with legal needs and to provide real-world, pragmatic advice to internal business partners.
Ability to competently manage multiple projects and transactions at once.
Authentic, open and personable with the ability to gain trust, operate with discretion and confidentiality, while maintaining impeccable integrity at all times.

Preferred:

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
Required to sit at a desk work station for long and short periods of time.
Push, pull, lift, carry at least 10 pounds.
Occasionally required to walk and stand.
Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read and interpret contract information and view information on a computer monitor.
Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
