Legal.io is working with a top tech company in the SF-Bay Area to hire a Privacy Analyst to join its growing Privacy legal team. 

The Privacy Analyst will partner with teams across the organization to support data mapping efforts and other ad hoc tasks. This is a great opportunity for an entry level position on a dynamic privacy team at a fast-growing company. Strong interpersonal skills are paramount for this role in order to achieve the cross-functional collaboration necessary to facilitate compliance with the ever-changing regulatory landscape. Applicants should have experience working with standard business applications, knowledge of foundational privacy concepts, a comfort working with ambiguity, and a passion for finding solutions that achieve maximum results with minimal impact on related business teams’ efficiencies and effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the company’s data inventory, updating existing and adding new records of processing activities 
  • Help operate, improve, and monitor the effectiveness of critical privacy compliance processes 
  • Fulfill data subject rights requests, including working with the Marketing Operations and Sales Operations teams to perform required activities and communicate with data subjects 
  • Facilitate Privacy by Design by working with key business stakeholders to complete Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and performing the initial review of completed PIAs and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new processing activities, IT changes, projects, and data ingests 
  • Participate in the privacy component of the company’s third-party risk management program, including sending out questionnaires, reviewing answers for privacy implications, and coordinating with Security and Procurement 
  • Respond to prospect and customer questionnaires and maintain the company’s repository of privacy answers 
  • Help manage privacy and data protection trainings 
  • Monitor the privacy email alias and serve as the initial point of contact for customer, prospect, and internal privacy inquiries 
  • Support Marketing and Sales teams’ privacy compliance regarding their outreach activities and public-facing materials 
  • Support updates to company’s public-facing notices and disclaimers 
  • Collaborate closely with counterparts on the Compliance, Security, IT, Internal Audit, and HR teams 
  • Partner with the Legal Operations and IT teams to automate and enhance privacy controls and processes 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 4+ years of professional experience, ideally focused on privacy and/or security compliance 
  • Knowledge of global privacy and regulatory frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, CAN-SPAM, HIPAA as it pertains to Business Associates, FERPA, FedRAMP, etc. 
  • Ability to research independently and quickly gain familiarity with privacy laws and regulations 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Superb organization 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders from teams across the organization 
  • Technical savvy with ability to quickly learn and operate new applications 
  • Attitude that no project is too big or too small

ROLE DETAILS:

  • Anticipated Start Date: Immediately
  • Schedule: 20 to 30 hours per week for 6 months
  • Pay Rate: $45 / hr - $70/hr
